1. Oil-Based Cleanser
The purpose of oil-based cleansers is to get rid of the oil-based impurities such as sebum, sunscreen, pollutants and makeup from your skin. The way to clean is by massaging an oil-based cleanser onto a dry face and rinse with lukewarm water.
2. Water-Based Cleanser
This is the second part of double cleansing to thoroughly clean your skin. Follow up with a water-based cleanser to remove water-based impurities and any remaining residue. Use a gentle cleanser that won’t strip out your skin’s moisture and rinse with lukewarm water.
Exfoliate your skin at least twice a week. Exfoliation is the key to a brighter and radiant skin, which is excellent to improve the appearance of your skin. It gets rid of dead skin cells and allows skin products to penetrate your pores. Make sure to use a gentle exfoliator that suits your skin type and you will find your skin feeling soft like a baby.
Toner is important to balance the pH level of your skin and keep it hydrated after cleansing. It’s a fast penetrating liquid that aids to remove some dead cells off from the skin’s surface. It also helps to restore the skin’s natural defences. You can use cotton pads and gently sweep it all over your face and neck. Another option is to pour a few drops of toner into your palms and then press them into your face.
Essence primes your face for the rest of your skincare routine. It is packed with active ingredients that help with signs of ageing, natural cell turnover, and you will find that your skin is smoother and brighter with regular use. To apply essence, just pat it with your fingers.
Treatments come in the form of serums, boosters and ampoules. They are usually thicker in consistency and work to treat specific skin conditions, such as fine lines, hyperpigmentation, dullness and so on. Take a few drops and apply evenly all over your face
7. Sheet Masks
A Korean beauty favourite, sheet mask can be found almost everywhere. Sheet masks are rich with unique ingredients from aloe vera and green tea to manuka honey and tea tree. Plus, it’s a convenient and effective way to nourish your skin with a glowing effect and boost of hydration. What’s not to love about a sheet mask, right? It is recommended to use a sheet mask three times a week.
8. Eye Cream
Eye creams aim to moisturise the delicate skin around the eyes where fine lines are likely to appear. Many people seem to apply it wrongly. The right way to apply eye creams is by using your ring finger and gently tap around your eyes. This is because the ring finger exerts the right amount of pressure and remember to never rub the eye area when applying eye creams.
Moisturiser is key to hydrated and silky-smooth skin. Moisturiser seals in all the layers of products that you have applied before. Using a moisturiser that is tailored to your skin type can help to maintain its balance. Korean beauty moisturisers are known to be lightweight and fast-absorbing. Sounds amazing, right?
The final step of the skincare routine is to wear sunscreen. Sunscreen should be applied pretty much daily to protect your skin against harmful UV rays, exposure as well as prevent premature ageing and lowers skin cancer risk. Look for sunscreen with at least SPF 30 for everyday use.
